Super Easy Instant Pot Apple Crisp

This apple crisp can be made in 15 minutes with the Instant Pot!  It is super easy and super tasty, especially if you serve it with vanilla ice cream. Yum!

Note: To make this recipe vegan, make with a non-dairy butter substitute such as margarine and do not serve with dairy ice cream.

Making Instant Pot Apple Crisp

For best results, be sure to peel your apples and and chop them into rather small pieces. You don’t even need any special spring form pans or such for this. Everything just goes into the InstaPot and then after 8 minutes of pressure it is done. Beats 30-40 minutes in the oven any day!

You can use oatmeal on top, or substitute granola if you desire.  I even eat this for breakfast sometimes!

Here is how to make air fryer Granola if you want to use that.

Using the Instant Pot Duo Crisp or Ninja Foodi

If you have an Instant Pot Duo Crisp, or a Ninja Foodi you can also crisp the top of this nicely after pressure cooking. Simply put the air fryer lid on and air fry for about 3-5 minutes at 400. Then you have Instant Pot Duo Crisp apple crisp!

You can also crisp it up in the oven under he broiler or in a regular air fryer  if you desire.

Variations of Apple Crisp

You can vary this recipe in several ways. For example, instead of using  oatmeal, try using crushed graham crackers. I have even used cookies such as Oreos, or mixed  in homemade crumbled sugar cookies, such as the unfrosted version from this Crumbl pink sugar cookie recipe. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your recipes!

Note: This recipe was submitted to me by a reader who did not take photos. So, it uses stock photos. I have made it, but need to update it with my own photos. I do plan to do that at some point!

I like to use either Grammy Smith or Honey Crisp. Golden delicious works really well too.

Rather than making in the Stainlsteel main pot, can this be made in another pot inside the Stainless Steel pot? If so, I realize water needs to be put in the main pot perhaps 1 C., the the secondary pot with apple mixture placed on the trivet. Am wondering if the 1/2 c. of water would still be needed to add with the apples.

You likely could do that. However, I do not know the water quantities needed. I would venture a guess that your estimates would work. You might not need as much as 1/2 cup with the apples though since they release their own liquid when cooked.
