Instant Pot Tip Roast

This recipe is for a basic Instant Pot tip roast. Sirloin tip roast is a lean and flavorful cut of beef, and it is ideal for a hearty family meal. The Instant Pot, or other pressure cooker, with its ability to cook meat quickly while retaining moisture, is also an excellent tool for preparing this dish.

Key Ingredients

Sirloin Tip Roast

The sirloin tip roast comes from the hindquarter of the cow, adjacent to the sirloin. It’s a lean cut, lower in fat compared to other beef cuts, making it a healthier option. It’s also rich in protein and essential nutrients like iron and B vitamins. Learn about the Tip roast cut of meat here

Broth

Beef or vegetable broth is used for cooking the tip roast in the Instant Pot, contributing to the moisture and flavor of the dish. Broth is a nutritious liquid made by simmering bones, meat, vegetables, and herbs.

Herbs and Spices

A blend of herbs and spices enhances the flavor of the roast. This recipe uses a mix of garlic, thyme, rosemary, and black pepper, common in many cuisines for their aromatic qualities.

Instant Pot Tip Roast Recipe

The recipe given here is a basic recipe without vegetables or potatoes.  It is a recipe submitted by a friend who swears by it, and I have made it once, but failed to take photos. So I am using stick photos here.   For more of roasts in general in the Instant Pot and adding carrots, vegetable, potatoes etc., be sure to see my Ultimate Guide to Instant Pot Pot Roast.  Also see my Mississippi Pot Roast recipe

The ingredients for this recipe are simple. You will need a 3-4 pounds sirloin tip roast, oil, beef broth, garlic, thyme, rosemary, and salt and pepper to taste. If you want to make gravy, you will want cornstarch on hand.

The recipe here cooks the roast for 60 minutes for a medium well roast. For a rarer roast, you will want to decrease the cook time. I ahve not tested this yet at lower cooking times though.
