Keto Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli

I love beef and broccoli, and when I was on a low carb diet, I also loved that I could make a Keto Instant Pot Beef and Broccoli version that is also gluten free, no sugar no grains (NSNG) and Whole 30 complaint.  How to do that?  It is easy! Simply substitute the cornstarch with arrowroot powder and the soy sauce with coconut aminos. Coconut aminos are really awesome as a soy sauce replacement. I think it tastes the same and you get rid of the grain and sugars from soy.

Note: Nutrition info for this post is based on the non Keto version. The Keto version will be much less carbs because of the use of coconut aminos.

I like to make beef and broccoli without a ton of sauce since I usually eat it without rice.  This recipe has you remove it with a slotted spoon to allow for that. If serving with rice (not Keto or Whole 30 etc. compliant) Then more sauce is often desired. Then, simply use as much as you like from the Instant Pot.

  1. It sounds delicous, however I am not seeing the nutritional information on page anywhere. What is the net carbohydrate number for grams per serving.

    Thank you.

    1. It is roughly 7 grams if you use arrowroot over cornstarch and coconut aminos over soy. Most of that comes from the arrowroot. You could skip thickening and then it would be about 2-3. But I prefer it thickened.

  2. Garlic Kangkong? What is this, where can I find it, is it available in most grocery stores, if not easy to find what can this be substituted with????

    1. The recipe does not call for anything called garlic kangkong. It calls for minced garlic. You can buy that at any grocery store or use fresh minced.

    1. I suggest using low sodium soy sauce and no sodium beef broth. That should cut back on the salt quite a bit.

  3. Ugh, I wanted to love this, but it was way too salty for us – I used full strength beef broth and coconut aminos – is there such a thing as low sodium aminos? I do want to say that the texture of the beef was perfect – I used pre-cut stirfry strips and the texture of the broccoli was perfect too – I will try this again with less sodium!

    1. Hi! Coconut aminos tend to be much lower sodium than regular soy. I’m not aware of a lower sodium version. Did you use low sodium broth? If not, you might give that a try.

  4. This was delicious! I did cut back the soy sauce (aminos) to 1/4 cup and added 1/4 cup water instead. That definitely took the salt down a notch. My husband loves beef and broccoli and said this was better than takeout!

    1. I calculated the non-keto version. The keto version will be much less carbs and similar calories. Coconut amino are much lower carb than soy, with about a third as much so you can probably take the carb count and divide it by three for close to the amount in the keto version.
