Air Fryer Baked Shrimp Scampi (Shrimp De Jonghe)
This air fryer baked shrimp scampi made in the Instant Omni is basically an air fryer shrimp De Jonghe recipe. It is based on one of the best baked shrimp recipes that I have and I was excited to convert it over to the Instant Vortex and Instant Omni air fryers.

What is Shrimp De Jonghe? What Does De Jonghe Mean?
Shrimp DeJonghe is a Chicago specialty dish. It is essentially a baked shrimp casserole in which shrimp is baked with a mix of garlic, butter, and wine soaked bread crumbs. It often is served either as an appetizer or as a main course. Basically it is like a baked shrimp scampi casserole.
The term De Jonge originated from the recipe’s founders and owners of the DeJonghe’s Hotel and Restaurant. It is still a staple at many Chicago area restaurants such as Gene and Georgetti, where it is served as an appetizer. It was also previously featured on The Chew before it was cancelled.
Air Fryer Baked Shrimp Scampi aka Air Fryer Shrimp De Jonghe
I made my air fryer shrimp De Jonghe based on one of my favorite baked shrimp recipes for the oven. This is an easy shrimp De Jonghe recipe and it converted quite nicely to the air fryer.
I made this in the Instant Pot Omni, but it can also be done in the Instant Pot Vortex or any other air fryer or convection oven using essentially the same settings. You can also pop it into a regular oven.
The ingredients for this shrimp De Jonghe recipe are quite basic. Some white wine or cooking Sherry, butter, garlic, shrimp, breadcrumbs and seasonings.

It all starts with a good amount of butter and garlic. You can use jarred minced garlic or fresh garlic. I use a lot because I love garlic shrimp!

After the garlic butter is melted, remove the pan from the heat and add the shrimp. You can do the preparation part on either the stove top or on saute in your Instant Pot.

A mix of bread crumbs and spices is then stirred in. A bit of Cayenne pepper is a key seasoning to any classic shrimp De Jonghe recipe.

This basically forms a shrimp casserole that you can then pop into your Instant Omni or Instant Vortex, or other air fryer. A convection oven, or even your regular oven, will work too. I made my air fryer shrimp De Jonghe in the Instant Omni.

I set my Omni to bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

The baked shrimp casserole came out beautifully.

Serving Air Fryer Shrimp De Jonghe
I served my Instant Omni baked shrimp scampi with Brussels sprouts and fresh corn on the cob, which I did in the Instant Pot. See here for how to make Instant Pot corn on the cob. I love that I can use the air fryer for a main course and the Instant Pot for a side both at the same time!
You can also serve Shrimp De Jonghe as an appetizer.

In your blog you state you “baked” the casserole in the Omni plus. However I the actual recipe instruction you say you air fryer it. Both for 350 for 10 mins. Which setting did you actually use? Bake or air fry?
Sorry for the confusion! I did it on bake and will update the recipe to reflect that. It actually will come fine on air fry too though.
